Dr Alina Zeldovich

Dr Alina Zeldovich is an eye physician and surgeon who specialises in cataract surgery. She also works as a comprehensive ophthalmologist, treating a variety of eye diseases. She currently works at Eye Associates in Macquarie St, Sydney.

After studying at the University of New South Wales UNSW Medical School, she completed her ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital. As part of her training, she worked at Sydney Children’s Hospital and Westmead Children’s Hospital as a paediatric ophthalmology registrar.

Dr Zeldovich is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and appears on its Honour Roll. She is the Vice Chair of the NSW branch of RANZCO.

She has published research papers in peer-reviewed ophthalmic journals and is involved in reviewing ophthalmic literature. She sits on organising committees for scientific conferences, has co-authored book chapters and contributes to ophthalmic teaching. She was the convenor for the 2019 RANZCO congress.

She has been appointed as a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney Medical School, is an examiner for the Masters of Medicine (Ophthalmic Science) and presents at Ophthalmology and GP conferences. 

She is a wife and mother of two and in her spare time enjoys skiing, Pilates, doing puzzles and bush walking. 

 

Dr Shanel Sharma

Dr Shanel Sharma

Dr Shanel Sharma is a paediatric and adult eye physician and surgeon, with special interests in cataract surgery, medical retina, paediatrics, strabismus and Botox for eye diseases.

An accomplished researcher and eye surgeon, Dr Sharma has published over 20 scientific papers in peer-reviewed medical journals. She is a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney. She has presented her work locally and internationally including at the World Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Meeting in Milan.

She has served on the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) Examining Committee since 2012.

Dr Sharma trained in ophthalmology at Prince of Wales Hospital. She has been a consultant ophthalmologist at Sydney Eye Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. She completed her postgraduate fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, the largest specialist eye hospital in Europe. She also undertook a fellowship in strabismus at the Western Eye Hospital and was appointed as a locum paediatric ophthalmology consultant at St Marys Hospital, both in London.

Since her return to Australia in 2011, Dr Sharma has worked in her private practices in Bondi Junction and Miranda.

She is a wife and mother of two young children. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing, bike riding and swimming.
